Cynthia Hadesman

For as long as she can remember, Cynthia Hadesman has had a passion for blending color, textures and design. At Hampshire College Hadesman studied color theory with Arthur Hoerner, a protégé of Josef Albers and after, interned with Joan Voss in New York.

In 1989 Hadesman opened Krivoy in Chicago, a boutique featuring original design in clothing and accessories; an outlet for her passion. Incorporating her training in color theory, design and millinery, she created hats, clothing and accessories that were carried in stores such as Barney’s NYC, Takashimaya, Saks Fifth Ave., Neiman Marcus, among others. Her design work was also featured in publications such as The New York Times, Chicago Magazine, The Chicago Tribune and People.

After 17 years in business, Krivoy closed, but her passion continued. Motivated by the idea of transforming something so delicate and fragile into something utilitarian and useful, Hadesman used her personal collection of fabrics and textiles, accumulated over her lifetime, and photographed them with her son.

Transferred onto plates and platters, the photos created a beautiful mix of contemporary and vintage design, durable enough to use every day; a perfect addition to create unique and beautiful environments.
