Kate Rivers
Kate Rivers is mixed-media artist based in the Hudson Valley, New York. Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, she earned a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design and an MFA in painting and printmaking from the University of South Carolina. After teaching at the collegiate level in Oklahoma, she transitioned to a full-time studio practice in Santa Fe before relocating to New York.
Rivers’s richly layered collage paintings incorporate book covers, ephemera, oil stick, and metallic thread to explore themes of memory, narrative, and the passage of time. Her Book Series and Nest Series reflect how we collect and preserve personal histories through the objects and materials that shape our lives.
